Lecture: Crea-Evolutionism: Challenges from the Cosmos to Everybody's Fundamentalisms
When: Thursday, January 17 @ 4 p.m.
Where: Rm. 1040 Dana Bldg.
A brief lecture description: In the past century, just as most theists have found it nearly impossible to deny the overwhelming evidence that "life, the universe and everything" is the result of processes which we can partially describe and understand, so also many a-theists are finding it increasingly difficult to sidestep the idea that the universe, life, and our own consciousness are miraculous gifts for which words like "Creation" and "Creator" are apt. Thus fundamentalisms on both sides are being challenged. Nowhere are these challenges more obvious than in our attempts to develop an appropriate response to human impact on the planet.
