Dear University of Michigan Professors,

I am writing to notify you of a conference that is being hosted at the University of Notre Dame on March 23rd-24th, 2013.  The Midwest Ecology and Evolution Conference is entirely student hosted and student attending, and therefore gives an excellent opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to present their research to their peers in a low stress environment, as well as receive feedback and communicate with other students about research ideas.  Hopefully this will spring collaborations, or at least be a springboard for future research endeavors.  The conference is comprised of both poster and oral presentations, as well as plenary presentations by two professional scientists in evolutionary biology and ecology.  This years speakers will be Dr. Mike Vanni from Miami (OH) and Dr. Rowan Barrett from Harvard.

Because of UM's proximity to Notre Dame and its strong Ecology and Evolutionary Biology program, I wanted to extend a personal invitation.  I have attached a flyer to post in the department(s) if you so wish, and would invite you to spread the word to other faculty, graduate students, and interested undergrads that have research they would like to present.  I tried to cast a wide net across disciplines and programs in the department, but I no doubt may have missed some.  If you have any questions feel free to send me an email.  You can learn more about the conference at our website at meec2013.wordpress.com.  I look forward to hopefully interacting with students from your university, and I thank you for your time.

Take care and enjoy the holidays,
Patrick
