Some undergraduate PitE students have formed a mentoring network and are looking for grad students to be a part of it. See below for details if interested. There's free coffee involved too.

Hi everyone,
My name is Rebecca Guerriero, and I am a senior in PitE, as well as chair of PitE Club. Kendall Effinger, another PitE senior, and I are coordinating the SNRE/PitE mentorship program, entitled BEAR: Building Environmental Awareness and Relationships.
Thank you so much for your patience in my response - a lot of you have expressed such enthusiasm for the program, and PitE Club is very excited to get things a-rollin'! So let me start with the basics of the mentorship:
1. How does it work?
The program will feature SNRE student and alumni information on a secure website. PitE students can visit the site, search various key terms, such as "Peace Corps," "rock climbing," or "urban planning" and see resulting bios and information of grad students.
From there, PitE students can email you with questions, a coffee/met-up request to hear and learn more about your experiences. The mentorship will be initiated by PitE students and fostered by PitE Club. One-on-one relationships can develop organically, and you will have the opportunity to speak with many undergrads and get to know the PitE community.
The website will be launched on October 15th and you can register then.
2. Does SNRE have to plan anything? How are events organized?
Nope! PitE Club will host monthly bonding events that will bring all mentors and mentees together. These events will have a central theme, such as food systems, and feature a few grads who are willing to speak to the group at large about their experiences - very informal but very rewarding from an undergraduate point of view. Of course food will be involved! The first event will take place on October 25 from 5-7pm. Please stay tuned for more details!
Finally, PitE Club will sponsor "Grab a Grad" coffee hours. Volunteer grads will be able to take 5-10 undergrads out to coffee on PitE's dime at a time conducive to your schedule.
Email rmguerr@umich.edu or kaeff@umich.edu if you would like to be involved as a SNRE liaison to the program.
3. What if I'm too busy? Or can't commit to something huge?
This entire program is entirely voluntary and you can put in as much or as little time as you like and can afford per semester. We will be sending out a questionnaire to garner your interests and background, as well as your time commitment and availability. "Email only" will be one of the options - so if this semester is looking pretty tight, you can still be involved. You can be added or removed from the site at any time.
We are so excited to get this program going - we think it will be a valuable addition to the environmental community here on campus!
Please feel free to forward this to anyone you think would be interested.
Email rmguerr@umich.edu or kaeff@umich.edu if you would like more information or want to be involved.
