Postdoctoral Position at UC San Diego
Examining academic departments as social networks in STEM teaching and learning
A postdoctoral position is available with Professor Stanley Lo in the Division of Biological Sciences at University of California San Diego as part of the NSF-funded UC STEM Teaching and Learning Research Project. We are studying how postsecondary faculty conceptualize diversity, learning, and teaching in STEM education, implement evidence-based instructional practices, and ultimately impact student outcomes in the short and long term. Specifically, the position will examine how teaching ideas and practices diffuse in academic departments through faculty interactions. The position is available for one year with a flexible start date and is renewable for up to three years dependent on progress.

What we are looking for
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in social network analysis, familiarity with R (or equivalent software) for statistical analyses and data visualization, an understanding of the current literature on STEM teaching and learning in postsecondary education, and strong verbal and written communication skills. We particularly value collaborative and motivated individuals with the ability to work independently, mentor students, and manage multiple parallel projects. Candidates with Ph.D. or equivalent degree in any STEM discipline, education, learning sciences, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
