The ELI offers English language courses designed to enable international scholars, researchers, faculty, staff to maximize their professional contributions during their time at the University of Michigan and beyond. These courses provide instruction in strategies for academic writing and for speaking in both formal and informal settings.
IS 501: Introduction to Communications in Academia (Fall 2020)
A course for international scholars, researchers, faculty, staff, and postdocs.

October 20-November 19 (10 sessions)
This course focuses on the academic skills that scholars, researchers, faculty, and other academic professionals in all disciplines need to succeed in the academic community. Key course components include:
Research writing
Poster and conference presentations
Leading and participating in formal discussions
Informal interactions in the academic community
All participants receive extensive individualized instructor feedback.
Register on the ELI website. There is a course fee for participation. Participants are encouraged to seek partial or full funding for the course fee from their respective department or sponsor.
