Leading the Way for Representative Government:
Intersectionality of Identity in Politics
A Discussion with Senator Stephanie Chang (02/14)
The Trotter Distinguished Leadership Series is designed to increase healthy discourse and learning throughout U-M by inviting speakers from the political and public service sectors of national and international note.
For this TDLS event, we are beyond thrilled to welcome to the University of Michigan, Senator Stephanie Chang. Senator Stephanie Chang is the first Asian American woman to be elected to the Michigan Legislature. Senator Chang worked as a community organizer in Detroit for nearly a decade before serving two terms in the Michigan House of Representatives. She has led the way on air quality protection, education, criminal justice reforms, improving economic opportunities, and affordable, safe drinking water. The event will be moderated by Niala Boodhoo, a Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan. Previously, she was the Founding Host/Executive Producer for the awarding-winning statewide public radio show “The 21st”.
The event will take place in the Multipurpose Room at the Trotter Multicultural Center on Friday, February 14th, 2pm.
