Computational Postdoc at Jackson laboratory

The Jackson Laboratory (Bar Harbor, Maine) is seeking a postdoc interested in computational genetics research and effective approaches to teaching computational biology.

The Greg Carter Lab is seeking a postdoctoral associate  to join our research in the computational genetics and genomics of complex disease (50% effort) and fill a critical role in our training efforts for the next generation of researchers (50% effort). Our work uses novel, genetically diverse mouse models to understand how genetic factors predispose to disease. We are part of the MODEL-AD consortium (model-ad.org) to create and characterize new Alzheimer’s disease models and the OPEN-AD center to translate ’omics data into potential therapeutics. In addition, we are engaged with a growing bioinformatics training program in JAX Genomic Education to teach researchers in designing experiments and analyzing data with advanced mouse models. We employ evidence-based teaching methods promoted by The Carpentries, an international organization with a mission to train researchers in best practices for data science and computing.
