ELI Conversation Circles Facilitators

The majority of Conversation Circle participants are international graduate students and visiting scholars, so we're hoping to recruit a higher number of graduate students to be Conversation Circle Facilitators. Additionally, in Fall 2019 we had over 300 international students and scholars on the waitlist to join a Conversation Circle, so we're really pushing for a higher overall number of facilitators this term.

ELI Conversation Circles Program

Are you looking for a fun and different way to get involved with life on campus? Interested in meeting new people from around the world? Then consider facilitating an ELI Conversation Circle.
All current U-M students, faculty, and staff are invited to volunteer to facilitate a Conversation Circle. No previous experience is required. You just need to be a fluent speaker of English who is very knowledgeable about U.S. culture and be willing to commit an hour a week of your time. First-time facilitators are asked to attend a one-hour orientation session.
Facilitating a Conversation Circle is a great way to:
  • gain intercultural experience
  • strengthen leadership and relationship-building skills
  • help international students participate more fully in the life of the university
  • contribute to a more positive campus climate
  • have fun!

Winter 2020 Conversation Circles run for ten weeks:
February 3 - April 19
Facilitator registration is open:
January 6 - January 23
