Center for the Education of Women name change

We've recently changed our name from Center for the Education of Women to CEW+ (see press release) and have also updated our mission statement as follows:

At CEW+, we navigate circumstantial barriers by providing academic, financial, and professional support to help you reach your personal potential. Established to support women through higher education, we lift up women and all underserved communities at U-M and beyond. Through career and education counseling, funding, workshops, events, and a diverse, welcoming community, we exist to empower. We are CEW+, and we’re here to help you reach your potential.

Free Career & Education Counseling. We provide free career and education counseling to people of all genders and demographics, taking extra steps to recognize cultural, age-related, gender or sexual identity, and other societal factors that may present unique barriers.

Free Events & Workshops. Continually changing in response to the evolving needs of the U-M community, we offer a variety of engaging speakers, workshop topics, and events for all.

U-M Scholarships, Fellowships, and Emergency Funding. For U-M students, staff, faculty, and the surrounding community, we offer funding opportunities to help with a range of situations and life circumstances.

Staff and Faculty Advocacy Initiatives. Through a variety of initiatives, task forces, groups, and organizations, we lift up and make space for diverse voices.

Social Work Internship Program. We offer comprehensive, customizable, and engaging supervised internships for U-M School of Social Work students in Counseling or Program & Project Management.

Student Study Space. Visit our designated student space - a safe and welcoming place where you can study, network, or just hang out and relax.

Student Advisory Board (SAB). The SAB works to inform and advise CEW+ leadership on the challenges faced by students, with a focus on the unique needs of underserved, and underrepresented students. 

Other Initiatives. Other initiatives include the Council for Nontraditional Students (COUNTS) for students, staff, and faculty, and the CEW+ Scholar Community for current and past CEW+ Scholars.
