Computational Social Science and Medical Data Research
At NECSI we develop scientific frameworks for understanding societies and human behavior. Our research leads to new methods for solving the world’s most important and far-reaching challenges. Computational Social Science Research
Our social systems are going through incredible change. A new era of communication and transportation is enabling collective actions at unprecedented scales. The world is becoming increasingly connected and at the same time more heterogeneous. The challenges are great and the tools we have historically used to think and act within societies are no longer working.
We are seeking a postdoctoral or predoctoral researcher to study patterns of human social behavior revealed in data sources including social media. The right candidate will have a unique opportunity to apply data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence research to glean complex insights about patterns in social systems.
Medical Data Research
Advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence have opened up new possibilities for improving health care. Wth the right analysis, the Big Data provided by electronic health records can provide insight into patterns of health and disease across populations. Potential benefits include better health outcomes, fewer medical errors, and reduced medical costs.
We are seeking a postdoctoral or predoctoral researcher to study an exclusive set of medical data provided by partnering medical institutions. The right candidate will have a unique opportunity to apply data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence research to glean complex insights about patterns in human health.

Postdoctoral and predoctoral researchers work closely with NECSI faculty to conduct core NECSI research. These positions provide an opportunity to:

Requirements:
• For student researchers, a post-secondary degree and outstanding academic record
in a relevant field.
• For postdocs, a Ph.D. (or expected Ph.D. by time of employment) and outstanding
academic record in a relevant field.
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Interest in multi-disciplinary research, especially in domains of current NECSI activity.
