Upcoming Complexity Courses and Conferences

Upcoming Complexity Courses and Conferences

Here is a look ahead at some of the courses and conferences on complex systems science being held around the world.

Mini-Certificate in Real World Risk Management

NECSI co-faculty Nassim Taleb's Real World Risk Institute is offering a certification program in risk management. This intense two or five day program will take place in New York City from June 6 to 10, offering lessons in risk taking including the concept of antifragility. 5th International Workshop on Complex Networks and their Applications

This workshop is hosted by a collaboration of Italian and international institutions and universities. It will be held in Milan, Italy, from November 30 to December 2, and cover a variety of theoretical and applied complex network topics. The organizers have put out a call for participation with a submission deadline of September 5. For more information, go to:http://www.complexnetworks.org/

Experimental Chaos and Complexity Conference 2016

The University of Calgary is hosting this international interdisciplinary forum in Banff, Canada, from May 16 to 19. This meeting will focus on experimental approaches at the intersection of physics, engineering, neuroscience, chemistry, and biology. Online registration is now open, with an early registration discount deadline of April 15. For details, go to:https://ucalgary.ca/ecc2016/

New Master of Complex Systems Program

The University of Sydney recently announced a new postgraduate program in Complex Systems, starting in the first semester of 2017. Master of Complex Systems (MCXS) is a two-year quantitatively-oriented course with five specializations: Engineering, Biosecurity, Ecology, Transport, and Research Methods. They are also offering a one year Graduate Diploma in Complex Systems (GradDipCXS).
