Summer Study Abroad: Conservation in Ecuador-Please forward

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Departments,

It is that time of year again to inform students of the great study abroad opportunities available to them.  The Ceiba Foundation for Tropical Conservation has unique summer abroad opportunities in Ecuador, perfect for students in biological and environmental sciences.
Our popular traveling course “Tropical Ecosystems:  Andes • Amazon • Pacific Coast” exposes undergraduates to an enormous diversity of habitats, and rare species and Latin American cultures.  Students journey together across Ecuador and immerse themselves in hands-on field research, learning standard ecological techniques and valuable job skills including wildlife census methods, bird mistnetting, primate ethology, and in-depth training in GIS and GPS. Students have the opportunity to design & conduct independent research projects in highly threatened coastal dry forest habitat.  This month-long program runs from May 25 - June 23, 2014 and is accredited by UW Madison for 4 honors-level credits (General Ecology - Bot/Zoo 460).
We are also promoting another great summer service-learning course, “Water for Life: Sustainability & Community Health in Ecuador”, as well as our 8-week Conservation Internships.
Please let your students know about these amazing opportunities by forwarding them this email and the attached course announcement.
