Divest/Invest campaign mass meeting

For anyone looking for a way to get actively involved in changing university culture and policy regarding climate change and carbon emissions, I would encourage you to attend the Divest/Invest Campaign mass meeting Thursday 2/6 at 7pm in room 1028 of the Dana Building. Currently, only 2% of U of M's energy comes from renewable sources, meaning the other 98% comes from burning harmful fossil fuels like coal and natural gas. This is dead last in the Big 10 and but can definitely be changed behind a strong student voice. For reference, Ohio State runs on 25% clean energy and Northwestern runs on 37%!

Whether you want to engage directly with university administrators and regents or raise awareness and change behavior among your peers on campus through grassroots activities, this is a great opportunity! There's also some cool events planned for later in the semester, such as a "toxic tour" of the Marathon oil refinery and some of Detroit's other large fossil fuel burning facilities.

If this sounds at all appealing to you, definitely come by. It's totally non-committal and is a great way to learn about what's going on around campus, share your own ideas, and make a serious impact! And if you're interested but can't make it to the mass meeting, the club meets every Thursday at 7!
