Other: Introducing - The Career Center - for Grads!

The Career Center is a campus resource serving graduate students (master’s and Ph.D.) in a number of ways.

All graduate students have unlimited access to our web resources, programs, and workshops, co-sponsored with the Rackham Graduate School. Our robust website includes access to sites for academic and non-academic job searches. We offer information, job and internship posting, and forum-based sites to meet a wide range of graduate students’ needs. For example, we subscribe to Versatile PhD, a supportive web-based community for graduate students investigating alternative career paths to academe. As premium subscribers we have access to numerous career stories of doctoral recipients who pursued employment outside of the tenure track, including real example resumes and cover letters.
Our programs and workshops give graduate students the opportunity to learn and practice important professional development and job search skills. Sign up to take advantage of numerous programming options. Interested in learning how to network? Want to uncover how your core skills, strengths, and capabilities impact career decision-making and professional presentation? Join us for what promise to be action-oriented and skill building workshops.

If you are a graduate student without a career services office in your school or college you may also use The Career Center by scheduling individual appointments with our team of professional staff that specialize in working with graduate students. If you are a master’s or Ph.D. student with career services in your school or college we recommend starting with them for one-on-one sessions. Their content expertise, specialized focus, and access to employers in their disciplines make them particularly well suited for meeting your individual needs.

We are excited to work with graduate students as the 2013-2014 school year unfolds (and, of course, spring and summer too). Take advantage of The Career Center and all we can do for you. We are here for graduate students!
