It's all about who you know! Networking is key! We have all heard these things, and yet, most of us struggle to maintain a professional network of contacts. Participants of this workshop will learn about innovative ideas that simplify the process of networking while building powerful personal and professional connections. In addition, participants will explore how to use online and social-networking tools (e.g. LinkedIn and Twitter) to extend, amplify, and supercharge their network while creating a brand for themselves to help launch their careers.

The AWIS Mentorship Encouragement Group (MEG) provides monthly support for graduate students, post doctoral fellows and junior faculty members. During each meeting, we host three Mentors of the Month (MOMs) who provide advice to participants and share their experiences as women scientists in academia and industry. Our one-hour meetings are informal and typically consist of a brief period for refreshments and speaker introductions followed by small group discussions. In the past, MOMs have offered career advice and addressed issues relating to work/life balance and conflict resolution.

Need a stress reliever? Come join AWIS in a Pilates class. We will be accepting donations for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®. You can either bring money to the event or donate online at our event’s webpage: http://www.fundraiseforBCRF.
You will learn the basics of Pilates and how to challenge yourself further. All you need is a mat or towel. Make a difference and learn something new!

AWiS will be hosting an alternative career event featuring panelists pursuing non-traditional/academic careers in the STEM fields. Panelists will answer questions and discuss topics such as discovering alternative career opportunities and succeeding in non-academic positions.
