The digital world is opening exciting possibilities for the dissertation--its form, its audiences, its methods--in all fields. This new digital landscape is also raising concerns about intellectual property, ownership of work, and other issues. Where is this leading and what should doctoral students and faculty know?
I am writing to invite you to a conversation about the dissertation and the digital landscape. Rackham is hosting this event on Friday, October 18, 9:30AM-12:30PM, on the 4th floor of the Rackham building. Doctoral students at all stages of their programs as well as interested faculty are invited to attend any and all sessions. A PDF of the announcement is attached. Please forward this announcement to the faculty and students in your program, and also please feel free to post it widely.
Complete program information—including links to recent articles and writing about digital dissertations and digital publishing and a place to submit comments and questions—is on the digital dissertations Tumblr microblog page.
We request that students and faculty register by visiting the Rackham calendar page.
