Sociology 595: Global and Transnational Sociology
Thursday 2-5pm, 3156 LSA

This seminar course examines key pieces in research on globalization. We review and critique some of the central theoretical approaches in global and transnational sociology, such as world system theory, world society/polity approach, and multiple modernities, and examine their empirical applications to topics such as human rights, citizenship, race and ethnic relations, women’s rights, conflict, inequality, social movements, and corporate social responsibility. The main requirements for the course are class participation and an empirical research paper/proposal.
