THE INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH ON WOMEN AND GENDER INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THREE GRADUATE FUNDING PROGRAMS

The Institute for Research on Women and Gender invites applications from graduate students at the University of Michigan for its three Graduate Funding Programs. These programs are designed to support the research and creative activities of graduate students in any field whose work focuses on women and/or gender. The IRWG and Rackham Community of Scholars Program provides summer funding for graduate students enrolled in a Rackham program on the U-M Ann Arbor campus pursuing research and creative activities on women and/or gender. Recipients of the award will participate in an eight-week, interdisciplinary work-in-progress seminar in May and June 2012 designed to support their research and writing. The IRWG and Rackham Research Grants for Scholarship and Creative Activities Focusing on Women or Gender provides awards of up to $1000 to cover research-related expenses (such as travel, production or exhibition costs, books, software, data collection, or payment of subjects) to graduate students enrolled in a Rackham program on the U-M Ann Arbor campus in any field and at any stage in their graduate career. The Boyd/Williams Dissertation Grant provides an annual award of $2000 to a graduate student pursuing dissertation research that focuses on women and work. Through this award, IRWG seeks to support projects that promote knowledge about and enhance understanding of the complexities of women's roles in relation to their paid and unpaid labor (e.g., philanthropy, volunteerism, community involvement, domestic work, and political activity).
