The Odum School of Ecology, a unique stand-alone college dedicated to a broad and integrative view of ecology, is searching for three faculty members.
ECOLOGIST: a tenured Full or Associate Professor with a distinguished record of scholarship, an exceptional research and publication record, and continued prominence in their field, evidenced by a substantive and sustained track record of extramural funding and international recognition for contributions in their field of expertise. The individual will foster synthesis in ecology, with a combined application of empirical and theoretical approaches, and focus on ecological patterns and process with a purpose to understand how these patterns are created, how they vary in space and time, and how they are changing in the context of human activity. The successful candidate will provide intellectual leadership on a campus that is significantly expanding programs across academic disciplines and increasing sustainability initiatives. URBAN AQUATIC ECOLOGIST and DIRECTOR OF SCIENCE: a tenure-track Assistant Professor to serve as Director of Science for the River Basin Center and to share management responsibilities with the Director of Policy. Exceptional candidates at higher rank may be considered. The mission of the River Basin Center currently emphasizes applied interdisciplinary research on ecological effects of water resource and land use development in the areas of water quality management, aquatic biodiversity conservation, and hydrologic change. INSTRUCTIONAL POSITION: a tenure track instructional position at the Assistant Professor rank. The appointment requires an outstanding communicator in areas of general ecology, environmental science, or conservation biology. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct research in the area of ecological science or the pedagogy of ecological instruction. To apply, a PhD is required in a related field.
