Post-doctoral fellowship in coupled human-natural water systems in Utah’s Wasatch Front
The University of Utah and Utah State University seek a post-doctoral fellow to participate in a new NSF EPSCoR funded project on water sustainability in the Wasatch Front of northern Utah. This region is experiencing rapid population growth and urbanization as well as changing climate and water availability. Understanding water sustainability in this region requires an interdisciplinary approach to studying the biophysical, social, and engineered aspects of local water supply, management, redistribution, recharge, and consumption. The iUTAH project (innovative Urban Transitions and Aridregion Sustainability) is a multi-campus capacity building program focused on interdisciplinary research, training, and outreach in local water sustainability. The program seeks a post-doctoral fellow to work with a team of hydrologists, ecologists, climate scientists, social scientists, planners, and engineers.More Information...
Tenure Track Position for Interdisciplinary Environmental Sociologist
The Department of Sociology, Social Work & Anthropology in collaboration with the Ecology Center at Utah State University invite applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Sociology beginning August 2013. We seek to fill this position with a sociologist or allied social scientist whose primary research interests include the human dimensions of environmental problems. Preference will be given to candidates with substantial experience integrating social, cultural and institutional factors into interdisciplinary studies of coupled human-natural water systems, particularly in urban and urbanizing areas. This unique opportunity is linked to a recently awarded cooperative agreement between the National Science Foundation and the state designed to expand the capacity of Utah’s research faculty to conduct interdisciplinary research to address water sustainability challenges along the greater Wasatch Front. iUTAH Research Technician Positions
iUTAH is seeking three technicians to take responsibilities for the operations of climatic and hydrologic monitoring systems in northern Utah. These technicians will have daily responsibility for all aspects of hydrological instrumentation network design, operation/maintenance, data quality assurance/control, and training. Planned research instrumentation will quantify aspects of climate, snow and vegetation dynamics, and water quantity and quality in the Logan, Red Butte, and middle Provo watersheds. Aside from these duties the iUTAH project will afford excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary experiences in hydrologic data management and interpretation. One technician will be hired to work at each of three universities: Brigham Young University, University of Utah, and Utah State University. More Information...

Student Job Fair
The Broader Engagement (BE) program will host the Student Job/Opportunity Fair during the SC12 conference. This face-to-face event is open to all students participating in the SC12 conference and will enable students interested in graduate fellowships, internships, summer job, graduate school assistant positions or permanent employment to meet with potential employers. At the 2011 Student Job/Opportunity Fair, employers from research labs, academic institutions, recruiting agencies and private industry met with students to discuss about research, employment, internship and co-op opportunities. We expect this year's event to be equally successful. Participating organizations will have the opportunity to interact with the students in computer science, information systems, scientific computing and high performance computing related fields. More Information...
Student Cluster Competition
SC12 will again feature the Student Cluster Competition as an opportunity to showcase student expertise in a friendly yet spirited competition. Held in collaboration with the Communities Program, the Student Cluster Competition is designed to introduce the next generation of students to the high-performance computing community. Over the last couple years, the competition has drawn teams from around the world, including Europe and Canada, China, Costa Rica, Germany, Russia, and Taiwan. More Information...
