Reminder, UM requires that anyone traveling abroad for research (or any other academic-related purpose) register their trip with the University, AND purchase travel abroad health insurance through this site: http://www.uhs.umich.
Yes, there is a charge for the insurance, but, I repeat, it IS NOT OPTIONAL for any and all university students, faculty and staff traveling abroad on university business, including research. The link above provides all the information needed to register and purchase insurance for your dates of travel. Also, don’t forget, if you are traveling abroad and are covered by GradCare you must ALSO fill out and submit an off-site registration form to me for processing.
