MICDE 2017 Annual Symposium - "The New Era of Data-Enabled Computational Science"

Please join us for MICDE 2017 Annual Symposium. This year’s theme “The New Era of Data-Enabled Computational Science” will put a spotlight on how computational models can be combined with data to improve quantitative predictivity. The symposium will feature an outstanding group of external speakers:

Jacqueline H. Chen — Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at the Combustion Research Facility, Sandia National Laboratories

Frederica Darema — Director, Air Force Office of Scientific Research

George Karniadakis —  Professor of Applied Mathematics, Brown University

J. Tinsley Oden — Director of the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences, A.V.P. for Research, University of Texas at Austin

Karen Willcox — Professor of Aerospace and Aeronautics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, co-Director of MIT Center for Computational Engineering

Additionally, we have two of our own exceptional faculty presenting their work:

Laura Balzano — Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Michigan

Emanuel Gull — Assistant Professor of Physics, University of Michigan

As always, the symposium will also feature a poster competition highlighting notable computational work from U-M postdocs and students. The posters have proved highly popular in previous years, and we look forward to the continuation of that trend.

More information, including a detailed agenda, is posted at http://micde.umich.edu/2017symposium/. Please send any questions you may have to micde-contact@umich.edu.
