Watch Livestream of Communicating Science Seminar
The Communicating Science Seminar on Thursday, February 11, 2016connects science communication and public engagement researchers, practitioners, and scientists. Panel discussions will explore engaging in policy, communication about synthetic biology, and visual communication.
Scientists and engineers from all fields often find that they need to discuss complicated scientific findings in a clear, concise manner with members of the public. The Leshner Leadership Institute and AAAS Communicating Science workshops are specifically designed to address the needs of scientists communicating complex or challenging concepts.
AAAS Communicating Science workshops can help scientists and engineers successfully engage in a variety of public and professional interactions, including:
Grant proposal writing
Other public forums
AAAS has held more than 60 workshops at universities, agencies, and conferences around North America, serving more than 2,800 scientists.
Workshops typically last 3-6 hours and are customized to the needs, skills, and interests of the participants. Through group discussions and short practice sessions, AAAS facilitators and scientist peers provide participants with feedback and concrete advice on messages, audiences, and communication skill development.
