Preparing Future Faculty Conference Wednesday September 30th, 2015 in the Michigan League

The 2015 Preparing Future Faculty Conference: 'Getting Ready for an Academic Career' will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 12:30 - 5:35 p.m. in the Michigan League. Registration is now open.
The one-day conference is designed to help graduate students in all fields explore academic careers, strategically navigate a challenging academic job search, and prepare to make a successful transition into a faculty position. Featuring presenters from a wide range of higher education institutions, many of whom were once U-M graduate students, the conference will help you learn what an academic career entails at many different kinds of colleges and universities. This event is co-sponsored by Rackham Graduate School and the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT).
Session and workshop topics include:
  • Developing a teaching philosophy
  • Writing CVs and cover letters and interviewing for academic positions
  • The tenure track process, and faculty success off the tenure track
  • Starting and running a faculty research agenda
