Clean Up Our Water! The Future of Michigan's Waterways Panel Event- Sep. 29th - 7:30PM

What: Panel: Clean Up our Water! - The Future of Michigan’s Waterways

Why: Clean water is essential to everyday life. We use it to drink, bathe, cook, swim, boat, fish - the list goes on. When our water is polluted it is not only devastating to our environment, but also our human health. In 2010, Michigan experienced the largest inland oil spill in history and in 2012 Lake Michigan was ranked 6th for discharges of Cancer-Causing chemicals.  A few weeks ago, the Clean Water Rule took effect in most of the states in the U.S. restoring Clean Water Act protections to over 23,000 miles of Michigan streams, however attacks in Congress could overturn the rule that is protecting 48% of Michigan’s drinking water. In the state of the Great Lakes, we can't sit by and let our water go under attack. The time to talk about the future of Michigan's clean water is now.
