May 2015 Rackham-CRLT Seminar on Preparing Future Faculty

Please find attached a flyer describing the sixteenth annual Preparing Future Faculty Seminar co-sponsored by Rackham and the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT).  Designed to prepare advanced graduate students for their first faculty jobs, seminar topics include preparing for the academic job market, strategies for effective and inclusive teaching, and understanding faculty work life at multiple types of institutions.

The Seminar will meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings (8:30 am - 12 pm) for five weeks beginning May 5, 2015. Breakfast will be provided. Rackham and CRLT will cover all costs, including all materials for the students. The Seminar has received outstanding reviews from participating graduate students every year and has garnered national attention as a model for preparing future faculty. We look forward to another successful experience this coming May.

We would appreciate your posting the attached flyer in your unit and encouraging applications from your doctoral candidates who plan careers in academia. Feel free to forward this message to qualified students.

If you have any questions, please contact Laura Schram at CRLT (phone: 647-5676; email: lnschram@umich.edu).
