Call for applications for the 

This year, we are recruiting graduate teaching consultants (GTCs) for Fall 2015, with the expectation of continuing through Winter 2016. 

GTCs collaborate with CRLT on activities designed to promote excellence in graduate student teaching across the University.  By working with CRLT, you will have a unique opportunity to help advance teaching and learning across the university while continuing your own development as an instructor. During the academic year, GTCs conduct midterm student feedbacks and consultations with other GSIs and meet five times each semester at CRLT to discuss teaching, consulting and careers in instructional development.

A subset of GTCs are identified as Instructional Technology GTCs (IT-GTCs) due to their interest in using technology to support teaching. These IT-GTCs pursue additional training in the use of instructional technologies, plan and facilitate one or more workshops on using technology for teaching each semester, and occasionally consult with GSIs about using technology in the classroom. The IT-GTCs are part of the GTC group and receive the same training, participate in monthly meetings at CRLT, and conduct midterm student feedbacks. 

All consultants receive training in consulting techniques from CRLT. GTCs are compensated at $20.00 per hour. The scheduling of hours is fairly flexible based on the availability of the GTCs and the needs of the Center.

We seek to create a diverse GTC group, which will consist of approximately 15 graduate students from across the University.

Applications should include:
1) A cover letter in which you:
* explain how the position fits with your past experiences, your plan for the coming year, and your goals for the future
* discuss any GSI or pedagogical training you have attended or facilitated in your own department, campus-wide, or nationally
* for applicants interested in joining the IT-GTC group, discuss your experience using technology in teaching or supporting others in using technology

2) A C.V. or resume, including a list of courses taught

3) Evidence of successful teaching, including the following:
* student course evaluations from at least two terms (quantitative and/or qualitative course evaluations; no additional student letters should be solicited)
* a reflective statement about those evaluations
* at least one letter of recommendation from a faculty member who can speak to your teaching success, preferably a faculty member who has seen you teach

Deadline for applications is Monday, March 2, 2015 at noon. Finalists will be contacted for an interview, which would take place in March. Decisions will be made in April.
