The GI health & Microbiome team at Nestlé Institutes of Health Sciences SA is looking for a biostatistician to join the team to discover the role of the gut microbiota in health and disease. The successful candidate is expected to lead statistical analyses for different projects. The main tasks include uncovering the relationships among high dimensional data and generating statistical models to explain the complex interactions between physiological data and one or more high dimensional datasets.

Key responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be in charge of statistical analyses for on-going and future studies.
Use existing methods to analyze the high dimensional data
Being able to see the limitations of existing methods and create new statistical methods to support needs of the projects.
Generating statistical models to uncover the relationships in complex omic datasets.
Communicate results of statistical analyses by providing oral presentations and written reports.
Participate in project conception and study design.
Must be a team player and be responsible for delivering quality results in a timely manner.

Education and experience

Ph.D. in mathematical statistics, statistics or biostatistics with detailed knowledge of one or multiple following techniques: Principal Component Analysis (classical and/or high-dimensional), Independent Component Analysis, Factor Analysis, Multidimensional Scaling, Cluster Analysis, Generalized Linear and/or  Additive Models, Bayesian (Non-parametric) Inference, Neural Networks, Markov-type modeling, Sparse contingency tables modeling, Graphical Models, Meta-Analysis etc.
Postdoctoral training is preferred
Experienced in analysis of one or more of high dimensional datasets, e.g. in microbiota, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, proteomics and metabonomics.
Sound knowledge of multiple testing is a must.
Ability to program and implement a statistical tool in R environment. Ability to program in lower level language(s) such as C, C++, python etc is an advantage.
Background in the biological science is an advantage
A successful track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
Fluent in verbal and written English and excellent in communicating statistical results in a layman language.
